IPL final 2021: Live score and latest updates from Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders

To our coverage of the IPL final between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan leads KKR in their hunt for a third IPL title, while MS Dhoni’s Chennai side are chasing a fourth trophy.

CSK breezed into the final after Dhoni’s brisk cameo secured a thrilling four-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals in Sunday’s qualifier in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer struck a fluent half-century as Kolkata overcame a late wobble to secure a three-wicket win over Delhi in the second qualifier in Sharjah on Wednesday.

This year’s tournament was postponed in April due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The last half of the competition restarted last month in the United Arab Emirates and culminates in today’s final.

CSK began the restart in second place and and lost their final three group games – but still managed to retain their position in the table.

KKR had only won two of their seven games prior to the competition being suspended, but managed to win five of their last seven group matches to nick a fourth-place finish. They beat third-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator before overcoming Delhi to reach the final.

Morgan is aiming to become the first England player to lead a side to the IPL title – and  victory today would secure an unprecedented hat-trick of successes to go with the 50-over and T20 World Cups.

He will lead England at the T20 World Cup which begins later this week. England will continue to be without star all-rounder Ben Stokes, but pace bowler Tymal Mills has been called up to the squad for the first time in almost five years.

The left-armer was name-checked by Morgan as a potential bolter earlier in the season and excelled as a death bowler for Southern Brave in the inaugural edition of The Hundred.
