Mercedes hit and run at multi-storey carpark, detaches bumper from parked car

Imagine going back to your parked cark only to discover the front bumper detached in a hit-and-run accident.

A black Mercedes was caught on camera damaging a vehicle at a multi-storey carpark and promptly leaving the scene.

Community page Complaint Singapore appealed for information on the incident which happened inside the Trivex building at 8 Burn Road on Aug 5 at around 4:35 pm.

The parked vehicle’s dashboard camera captured the Mercedes reversing into the empty space beside the camcar.

From the camera angle, it appears that the Mercedes positioned itself too close to the parked vehicle before leaving the scene.

The video continues to the incident’s aftermath, showing the damage caused to the vehicle’s bumper.

“Anyone who has information about the owner of the black Mercedes car may contact us to forward it to the victim of the hit and run accident,” said Complaint Singapore.

Under the Road Traffic Act (RTA), leaving the scene of an accident is considered “Hit-And-Run” the offence carries a fine of S$3,000 or 12 months in jail for first-time offenders in Singapore.

“The at-fault driver will also be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for up to 12 months, unless the court has special reasons to order otherwise,” noted Singapore Legal Advice.
