Astonishingly, it’s not over yet.
Nearly nine years after calling it quits — and some 11 months after finalizing their divorce — Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy are still battling it out in court.
In a move that could only please the gazillion dollar-an-hour attorneys involved, the “Real Housewives of New York City” star and her businessman ex will appear before a New York family court judge on Dec. 8 for a hearing involving custody of their daughter Bryn.
The couple was first granted joint custody of the 11-year-old in 2014, though Frankel went back to court about three years ago to win sole custody. It is not known if next Monday’s hearing has something to do with that effort and Frankel’s rep did not comment.
Frankel first met Hoppy in late 2008, and he proposed to her on Season 3 of the Bravo show.
A then-pregnant Frankel and Hoppy married in 2010, welcomed their daughter in May of that year, and called it quits in December 2012.
The Skinnygirl founder — whose ill-fated relationship with Hoppy was featured on the show “Bethenny Ever After” — filed for divorce one month later.
In June 2014, it was decided they would share custody of their daughter. Hoppy’s lawyer said in a statement, “The parties’ child will have the benefit of being raised by both parents; and most importantly, his daughter will no longer be at the mercy of a high-profile courtroom battle.”
Then in 2019 a divorce judgment couldn’t be issued because of an order of protection in place against Hoppy, who was charged with harassing and stalking Frankel in 2017 following a confrontation at Bryn’s school.
The 51-year-old businessman was ordered to stay away from Frankel for six months and not to contact her by phone, email or through any other party. This resulted in Frankel suing for full custody of Bryn.
When the judge finally signed off on their divorce in January 2021, details of the custody agreement were not made public.
Meanwhile, proving divorce has a nice ring to it, Frankel, 51, conveniently got engaged to boyfriend Paul Bernon, 44, just as the news reports hit that she “finalized” her divorce from Hoppy.
She told People at the time, “The ring is absolutely beautiful … Paul’s an absolutely beautiful person and it’s an exciting, fun time.”
She said of her engagement to the film producer “It was intimate,” adding it took place in Florida in February 2021.
“Just the two of us, on an island off of Florida. No makeup, no manicure, no ring photos. It was very simple and beautiful.”
She added, “He’s a good person who I love….I don’t know if it’s a yin to my yang, but he’s really relaxed, he’s mellow and he’s very, very funny.”
