Arizona Cardinals wide receiver A.J. Green announced his retirement Monday.
“I’ve never been a man of many words, so I’ll keep this short,” Green began his Instagram post.
“Thank you. Thank you to all who have supported, encouraged, and inspired me throughout my career. Special thank you to the University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals, and Arizona Cardinals for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I’ve stayed true to the game and it owes me nothing. Be blessed.. Green played 11 seasons in the NFL after being picked by the Bengals with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
The 34-year-old receiver played his first nine seasons for the Bengals and began his career with five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Green had only two seasons with over 900 receiving yards after that stretch.
Green finished his career with the Cardinals, playing for them the past two seasons.
A two-time All-Pro, Green was selected to seven Pro Bowls and finished with 10,514 yards and 70 career touchdowns.
