The SA20 league is expected to be the next big thing in Franchise Cricket. The league is all set to commence on 11th January. The specialty of this tournament is that all the teams are owned by IPL franchises, due to which we can expect riveting action.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has taken a massive risk by introducing this league as they had abandoned the ODI leg fixtures against Australia. South Africa currently is in 11th position in the World Super League table with 59 points from 16 matches and is on the brink of losing the direct qualification for the World Cup 2023.
Quinton de Kock Named Durban Super Giants Skipper
Durban Super Giants has named Quinton de Kock as the captain for the inaugural season. Quinton has captained the side as he had a short stint where he led the team in 4 Tests, 8 ODIs and 11 T20Is. The dashing left-handed batter knows how to give the team a rollicking start which is quite invaluable in the modern cricket. In the T20 cricket he has 8497 runs to his name with an average of 33 and a strike rate of 138.
Quinton de Kock Invaluable
The decision by the Durban Super Giants franchise could turn out to be fruitful as in IPL 2022, the batter had scored 508 runs where he struck 3 half-centuries and 1 century. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had made it to the playoffs and he played a pivotal role in it.
Durban Super Giants is all set to clash against Johannesburg Super Kings on 11th January. The management would be aware that captaincy may affect Quinton’s game. There are chances that Quinton may play the second fiddle as he has the knack of playing a significant knock for the team. Head Coach Lance Klusener will have a strenuous task on its hands in the maiden season. The all-rounder Jason Holder’s role would be extremely important as he can guide the youngsters in the middle.
