IND vs AUS: Suryakumar Yadav Has Got The Gift Of Timing And I Was In Awe Watching Him Play His Shots – Virat Kohli

Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli proved to be the heroes as India defeated Australia in the third and final T20I of the series which was played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on September 25, 2022.

The Indian team was set 188 runs target to win and got to the target with one ball to spare and six wickets in hand. The Men in Blue started off on a poor note as KL Rahul got out to Daniel Sams for 1 and then Rohit Sharma was caught by Sams off Pat Cummins for 17 runs.

But it was the 104-run partnership for the third wicket between Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli, which brought into the match, and then Kohli ended up taking India near to victory, while Hardik Pandya finished the match.

Suryakumar hammered 69 in 36 balls with 5 fours and as many sixes, while Kohli batted till the last over, scoring 63 runs in 48 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, as India won the match in the last over with 6 wickets in hand. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 25 in 16 balls.

Meanwhile, after the match, Virat Kohli talked to the commentators about his knock and Suryakumar Yadav.

Here is what he said: “That’s why I’m batting at 3, giving the experience to the team (at that position). Surya was batting really well, I turned around to the dug-out, KL and Ro both asked me to continue batting (and bat for a long time), he has the game to bat under any condition (on SKY), he batted beautifully in the Asia Cup. He’s striking the ball well, this is the best I have seen him for the past 6 months or so. He’s got the gift of timing and I was in awe watching him play his shots. He was trying to control my scoring rate (on Daniel Sams), so I was standing outside leg and trying to use that off-side area.”

Australia had made 186/7 with Cameron Green making 52 in 21 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes to his name and Tim David who made 54 in 27 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours.

I’m Happy With My Contribution To The Team: Virat Kohli After Leading India To Series Win Over Australia

Virat Kohli also talked about his own form and said that he was happy with his contribution to the team. He has had quite a renaissance of form since his comeback to international cricket in the Asia Cup, where he made two half-centuries and his maiden T20I hundred against Afghanistan.

I was a tad disappointed at having taken a single after a six, but it was an important strike (on that first-ball six in the 20th over). We were a tad disappointed at not having kept our required rate to around 4-5 runs for the last over, so it was important to get a boundary early on. I’m happy with my contribution to the team, I took a break, went back to the nets, worked hard on my fitness and think it’s coming off well. I want to keep contributing and doing my best for the team,” he added.

India will now play three T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa before the T20 World Cup in 2022.
