Suryakumar Yadav was adjusted Player of the Match in the third and final game of the three-match T20I series between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Aaron Finch-led Australia National Cricket Team that was played on Sunday, September 25, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.
Losing the toss and batting first, Australia posted a score of 186 for 7. Young all-rounder Cameron Green and explosive batter Tim David were the top 2 performers for the Aussies in the innings. Tim David smashed 54 runs off 27 balls, including 2 fours and 4 sixes, and Cameron Green, smashed 52 runs off 21 balls, including 7 four and 3 sixes. Also, Daniel Sams (28) and Josh Inglis (24) chipped in with crucial contributions.
Chasing the target, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul failed to perform well. However, in the middle-overs Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli batted brilliantly and they had an outstanding 104-run partnership. Suryakumar Yadav smashed 69 runs and Virat Kohli smashed 63 runs. In the end, Hardik Pandya smashed 25 runs to finish off the match and help India win the series by 2-1.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Suryakumar Yadav, who got out in the 14th over after smashing terrific 69 runs off 36 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes, talked about his dismissal and said:
“In that situation, it was much needed. I thought let’s take my chance. There were two-three shots in my mind, was trying to hit over mid-off.”
He added that he just wants to express himself whenever he is out in the middle. Suryakumar Yadav also said that he loves batting at the No.4 position for India National Cricket Team. He elaborated:
“Thoughts have always been the same, have always wanted to express myself. That’s how I practice in the nets. Just loving at No.4. A lot of challenges and responsibilities as well [for the T20 WC]. You can’t shy away from expressing yourself. Have to be smart.”
