Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock opened up about facing Roger Federer in his farewell match at the Laver Cup on Friday and hailed him as the ‘one’ when it comes to tennis.

Federer teamed up with Rafael Nadal to take on Sock and Tiafoe in what was a very intense encounter. The Team Europe duo claimed the first set but Sock and Tiafoe turned the tables on them in the second set and took the game into the match tiebreaker.

They went on to win in the end and handed a loss to the tennis great in his final match.

Speaking after their win, in a video published on Twitter by Laver Cup, Tiafoe and Sock said that they couldn’t really understand what happened and hailed Federer as the ‘one’.

They also opened up on the respect the Swiss star commands from his peers and said that while the win was great, in the end it felt bad.

“I don’t think we’re gonna really understand what happened. We’re probably gonna call each other in ten, 15 years from now and be like ‘bro, remember London at The O2’?”

“Roger’s game is crazy. He is the one. Like he is the chosen one. Everyone around the world loves him. What he did for the game is unbelievable. You had his rival crying with him. Guess that’s the level of respect he has. He showed love to everybody. Came to us twice. Didn’t have to, like gave us both a second of his time, how big that moment was.”

“Again, tonight wasn’t about us at all. Just us being on the court was special. getting a win for Team world was huge, but at the end of the day, it feels bad.”

“He is going to sleep well for the rest of his life. He had an unbelievable career,” said both men in the video.
